Facing The Minotaur - finding your way through the shadow - August-December online 2019.

"A curiosity to meet your shadow-self is to me, a call to wholeness.  It is asking to gather all the parts of yourself into a loving gaze, a chance to repatriate the lost and wounded parts of yourself and love the whole of your being into peace."
quote from the workbook for Facing the Minotaur.

What is Facing the Minotaur - August -December online 2019?

fo
Facing The Minotaur is a pathway to repatriating shadow. It's a creation 5 years in the making. It uses myth and creativity, the power of the unconscious and love to build a loving relationship with the shadow self

Facing the Minotaur is creating a practise of tending to the shadow self in a way that is
 kind, gentle and powerful.

A rich and deep exploration into the shadow self, "Facing The Minotaur" is laid out as a 16 week step by step pathway to guide you through the process.

We will meet weekly for 16 weeks, each session lasting an hour,
(beginning August 13 ending Dec 3 at 12:30 pm NZ TIME
every Tues
(Monday 5:30pm Pacific, 8pm Eastern Midnight UK time )

using Zoom - recorded and available for rewatching

We will also share our experiences as we work through the process on a secret Facebook group.

This group will create space for us to work synergistically - our collective tending to shadow builds a way for us to benefit from the work and insight of others. During this zoom meeting we will work on the homework provided during the previous week, discuss our findings and create together.

Everyone who participates will understand the boundaries of the group clearly before entering the space.  Confidentiality and self care are crucial on this journey and agreements to this will be required before signing up.

Facing the Minotaur is respectful of the immensity of shadow and aims to build a lifelong shadow practice, one that strengthens and enhances your well-being and resilience.

When you complete the work involved in Facing the Minotaur you will;
  • have an understanding of how shadow is made and your best approach in tending to it.
  • have a unique toolkit for tending to areas of both your own and collective shadow
  • have a creative pathway to tend to shadow as it arises, which provides a way for inspiration and insight to flourish.
  • have a personalised guidebook to shadow and your own wisdom around your shadow process.
  • have a stronger sense of your own depth and gifts.
  • be able to tend to yourself as a whole and rich being without being automatically compelled to hide or avoid aspects you may have previously felt ashamed of.
  • have a way to tend to shame when it arises.
  • have a sense of your own capacity to manage situations that feel negative and difficult with insight and grace.
  • the blueprint for a lifelong shadow practice which will grow with you and support you in your navigation of the world of shadow.
"I believe that just as a seed needs darkness in order to germinate, humans need a dark side in order to grow."
quote from the workbook for Facing The Minotaur.

Through Facing The Minotaur we will meet these unloved and unwelcome aspects of ourselves in manageable doses.  The key is the manageable dose, this slow unfolding is designed for the long haul.  Bit by bit we troll the shadowland for buried pieces of ourselves allowing time and process for assimilation and repatriation.

quote from Facing the Minotaur workbook

What makes Facing The Minotaur special?

Facing the Minotaur is deep dwelling work.  In this world of '10 easy steps' and 'quick fix' Facing The Minotaur is the antithesis of this.  It is the slow food of soul work.

The course is made so that you can have a life-long resource; a handmade and personalised shadow practise.

The depth of Facing The Minotaur allows new things to arise each time you return to the work.  It uses the power of metaphor, symbol and story to reach deep into the unconscious where shadow dwells and bring just what needs to be seen to the surface.

The work is big because the conditioning we are undoing with Facing The Minotaur is cultural, multigenerational and personal. It takes work to do this work.

There will be weekly zoom sessions for 16 weeks to deepen understanding and process the work.  This will be enhanced by the secret facebook group where we can discuss our learnings and discoveries.

This course is made with Deep Rooted Love.  It is made from a unique combination of psychological wisdom, ancient story, creativity and inner delving that allows doors to the unconscious to open in a variety of ways.  it is a piece of inspiration that I have followed for several years now and is unique in approach and scope.

The length and depth of Facing The Minotaur mean that you must be in a state of strength emotionally and psychically to undertake the work.  You would not do a marathon if you had just had the flu, and Facing The Minotaur needs your psyche to be relatively strong.  If you are feeling in a well-supported state, you have what it takes.  If you are in process with a therapist of some kind it is useful to let them know about this work and engage them in your learning. If you are not well supported or unsure about the equanimity of your psyche then please consider doing this at another time.  In committing to this work you are entering into an agreement with me that you believe you are up for the intensity of this work.  If you have any questions about this please contact me here.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not a therapist of any kind.  This work is offered human soul to human soul, seeker to seeker.  I offer a way to tend to your shadow self that has worked for me and am dedicated to supporting you to learn about the gift of this work.

I am also in New Zealand so my time zone may differ from yours. Please recognise that I may not be active online when you are but I commit to attending to the work thoroughly and attentively and in a timely way.

This is not fast food for the soul, this is deep lasting nourishment.

And that takes time.

It also requires commitment to your soul.  The monetary cost of the course is $800 (NZ).   The cost of the course is also that it requires something of you.  It costs time and energy for you to turn up for yourself and your deeper life.  It takes courage and tenacity.  The prize at the end is the possibility of lovingly claiming your entire self. Having the ability to stand full centre in your life, having the capacity to claim your whole self.

You have to be willing to do the work for it to work.

Who will this work appeal to?

Picture
Anyone with a shadow.

ha! because of course everyone has a shadow.

It will especially sing to you if you are ready to make some deep change.
You are ready to engage in creative ways of reaching into your inner life.
You are enchanted by story.
You are moved by metaphor.
You are intrigued by creativity.
You are willing to listen to and trust your inner voice.
You want to be tended to with compassion, humour and kindness while you do your big work.
You want some space to engage with your truth and discomfort.

Who won't like this work?

You won't like this work if:
  • You only want to skim the surface.
  • You want a quick fix.
  • You want to stay where you are.
  • Your commitment is to sweeping things under the rug.
  • You want to blast your shadow to smithereens.

IMPORTANT CAVEAT:  (kudos to Randi Buckley for the inspiration).  Please do not purchase access to Facing the Minotaur if you feel pressured by something outside your heart's desire to turn lovingly towards your shadow.  If you feel in any way pressured by what you think you should do or anything other than the natural discomfort of taking on big soul work then this offer is not for you at this time.  Your desire to do this work,( even if your knees are shaking) and a sense that your psyche is strong enough to meet the unknown, is the entry level I require.  This work requires clean commitment from both of us and you know your own readiness.  Please listen to that..

What do i need to engage in Facing the Minotaur 0nline 2019?

You need to have a high speed internet connection to participate in the weekly zoom sessions, join in the facebook group and watch the videos.  You will need the space in your life to make a regular commitment to the work.  One of the Wise Council of Testers said that it helped her to say to herself 15 minutes 3 times a week and in that way she could make step after step into the process.

You will need two journals, one for writing, one for art work and some simple art supplies.

The most important requirement is courage.

The courage to show up for yourself.  The courage to keep going even if it seems arduous.  The courage to keep walking even if you feel unsure.  I will be there for you to call on.  You don't need to feel brave or be "fearless" (in tending to shadow you will have fear, we have learned to hide so much), you just need to be willing to have courage.  The rewards are truly worth it.

Shadow work allows us to access our magnificence and is in this way is a gift to ourselves and to the world.
quote from the workbook for Facing The Minotaur.

Your support network will notice the changes so enlisting their support is important.  You may find shadow arising in yourself or others as you commit to this work - it is waiting to be seen.  This work is laid out in a safe and step-wise manner and supports a healthy psyche to form a deeper connection with the self which is nourishing and wholemaking.

This course shifts in remarkable ways...

If you are a New Zealander you will know that part of our collective cultural shadow is not blowing our own trumpet... That I even have that headline there is a ringing endorsement for this work.  I am ready to sing out about this course because I believe so deeply in the power of Facing the Minotaur to shift the hard stuff.  And by turning up bravely on your own behalf you will reap the benefits.

As with all deep soul work, this healing travels backwards and forwards through time.

It is possible to deal with present day shadow and deep lineage shadow using Facing The Minotaur and the pathways within this investigation.

So Jane, what is your lineage with this work and what is in it for you?

I stand on the shoulders of C.G.Jung, Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Robert Johnson and ancient storytellers to bring you this work.  I began my shadow work with Pixie Lighthorse, Chris Zydel and Randi Buckley who have offered me wisdom in tending to shadow, creativity and boundaries.I am deeply indebted to them all. I am also indebted to the wise souls who have walked the path into the Minotaur over the years, each of them showing courage and building wisdom that continues to enlighten and inspire me. I am aware of the honour of this lineage and step up with this offer doing my best to do them proud.

I stand here offering up Facing the Minotaur because I want to live in a world where there is less hard stuff.  Where people feel whole.  Where our collective shadow allows us to avoid some of the destruction and damage we currently engage with.  Shadow work is one powerful and lasting way of shifting the hard stuff.  Facing the Minotaur is a gentle and loving way into and out of shadow.  I am offering this up because it has changed so much in my life for the better and it is a gift I want to share.

In developing the gentle practice of Facing the Minotaur, I have come to see the immense strengthening and whole-making aspects of shadow work.  It is why I have worked to bring this to you.  This pathway re-stored me in a way nothing else has done.  My wish is that it does that for you too and that you can face your shadow-self knowing there is a pathway that is gentle and safe.

I have a question.

.

Can we hear from people who have done Facing The Minotaur?

sure thing - here are a few to whet your whistle.

It is my absolute pleasure to have shared some incredible journeys over the last 2 years with Jane’s guidance and in particularly the most recent being Facing the Minotaur, finding your way through the shadow.  A 14 week journey, which completed last week.

I would like to share her introduction on the first page which I feel speaks so much to the wisdom that was shared and the way it was facilitated, full of her integrity and authenticity.

“It is designed to develop a gentle, restorative practise to attend to the shadow self.  In passing this torch to you, I am placing something profound and strong in your hands.  It is made from courage, wisdom seeking, my skinned knees, getting back onto my feet and some of the radiant gifts on my path.  May this strengthen you and lead you to wholeness.”

I have been working on self and spiritual development for many years and at 56 had become cautious of some of the practices out there.  People perhaps not as knowledgeable about how the body, mind and spirit may operate.   Not judging, great intentions however sometimes unsafe practices.

When I heard Jane was offering this incredible work there was no hesitation for me to join, knowing that I would be safe and supported to visit those most vulnerable aspects a human can face, particularly as I experienced abuse as a child and so aspects of my child was still driving some of my behaviours and my goodness some of the beliefs I held about myself and others were not supporting me in the life I am leading now.

I am truly a different person after this journey.  The explanations of shadow, was so enlightening and when I learned more about Ego, self, shadow – anima-animus, it helped me gain a different perspective of my operating systems if you like.  The Jung’s model of the psyche just opened up so much for me. Being in a group helped me understand that I was not the only one that had the thoughts that I did, and behaved, reacted at times that had me feel as if I was going crazy to stay sane.

The map of the labyrinth will always be with me for the rest of my life as will the archetypes from the story of The Minotaur.  I was aware of parts work through SoulCollage® Card work but nothing like this.  My interest has been ignited again because of this journey.   We learned about each character in the story – King Minos – power & control, Pasiphae – creating a monster, Ariadne – stepping back, compassion, noticing, observing, the red thread, connection, not alone.  The Minotaur – what is really happening that is hidden, what pain, wound, behaviour is operating, Theseus – action and I love the sailing away and what needed to be left behind, where was I heading, who, what did I want to take with me.

The labyrinth journey has been immense and I have connected with my self, my higher self and my minotaur.  The discussions, art work that enable us to access our psyche in a very precious way, the teachings and actually being able to visit a labyrinth have been immense.  For the first time in my life I feel the ‘wholest/attunded’ I have ever felt and this time I feel empowered with an understanding, actual processes that work for me and tools.  I have used them several times and will always continue to do so.

Jane offered us one and one time and I have emailed, phoned, had conversations so the work although took place in a group, the learning, everything was applied to us as individuals, unique to who we were/are.  I am much more in tune with myself and am discovering creative aspects of myself I did not know existed.  My intuition has developed.  I am still amazed about the number of synchronicities that I have experienced.

What has been incredible is that my own counselling practice has changed over time and has developed.  I seem to be less in my head and listen, hear the clients more whilst tapping into the energies, now more aware of what belongs to me or the client and how to be open in the space more.

I am exploring avenues I would not have really done before including spirituality, creativity and noticing life, so much more mindful and grateful.  I have been working on myself for a number of years but I truly believe that the practices through Facing The Minotaur have been key for me and if this would have been available so long ago I am sure I would not have bought into the discourses so much that I was a wrong person.

I also felt that Jane walks her talk and has experienced everything she shares. You can just tell, you can feel it and the sense of her connection with us, with humans, the planet, source/universe is shared with us.  She is a role model to me in being humble, in gratitude for life, sharing, generosity and doing the hard work that it takes which is liberating.

I finally connected with a lost 10 year old who had been hidden for so long from me and just being part of the process revealed her to me as I learned and began to love her, with tools from Jane in learning how.  This has been keen to my healing and my wholeness, contentment and peace.

I was so fortunate as I had a couple of dreams that Jane helped me work through which were profound and then I got to experience 2 hypnotherapy sessions and have an amazing script that at the moment I play daily.  Oh my goodness.  I cannot believe that we have such an incredible person here in Whangarei.  So blessed.

I cannot say thank you enough and feel that Jane’s presence affects anyone she works with.  I have seen it in so many people and am privileged to be in the her weekly Soulmapping Art Journal group.

I am proud to support Jane in her endeavours and wish her all the very best.  What an incredible ambassador for hope, inspiration and liberation in a very real and grounded, tangible way.

Liz, New Zealand.

"Facing The Minotaur invites you to excavate your inner labyrinth. Using myth and metaphor Jane guides you through your own parable with strong imagery, meditations and exercises. If you are ready to go deep, grab this opportunity while you can. Meet your shadow with Jane's personal support, you will want to sail this ship again and again as the layers reveal themselves to you and you hunger for more."

Kim Candlish.  Canada.

"Facing the Minotaur provided the stepping stones to take on the journey towards wholeness through a tantalising exploration of the shadow self. Jane's practices of noticing the shadow were gentle, the path through was about taking my time and providing myself with soul deep supportive self care. Her guidance was not prescriptive but allowed an open personal experience and felt more like being welcomed home. A welcome she encouraged me to build for myself. I was inspired to give myself my own permission to embrace that path. Jane held a collective intention for all of us, teaching us to see the potential and the possibility of both light and dark within to find where the best of ourselves awaits to be discovered. Things that have been forgotten, those left unrealised as much as those yet to be created. Her guidance supported a safe journey to explore the light that lies beyond the shadow. Taking this path in was all about looking within and opening up. When I started this work, I feared I would simply find evidence for the shadow and see only judgement, instead the opposite was true. Kindness in self care is the core of Jane's work. A beautiful wisdom, beautifully taught with warmth and tenderness."
