FACING THE MINOTAUR
3 April - 21 August 2023
I have gained so much from this course - much more than I expected when I followed my intuition and decided to jump in. Doing shadow work in the best of times isn’t easy, and it is tempting to shy away from it right now when we are collectively going through so much, but the reward is immeasurable.
One of the best investments in myself I’ve ever made.

'listening" by Jane Cunningham
This is deep, powerful soul work. It has brought me closer to myself, my lineage, and a sense of the greater. I have learnt tools that will help me work with, and through, shadow for the rest of my life. Jane's work is a gift, it is transformative, and I couldn't have wished for a more wise, compassionate, skilful, generous guide to accompany me on this journey. And it is not all darkness - I also experienced a lot of love and laughter along the way too! If something in you feels drawn to this work, listen to that call, you won't regret it. Karen J. UK |
Facing The Minotaur - Online is the workshop for people who want to join a gathering of courageous humans to explore the challenges and gifts of the shadow.
It's a 20 week exploration of this part of the psyche using circle work, myth, metaphor, visual images, creativity and journaling to bring us to a new understanding, create a practise and build relationship with the unconscious and with shadow. The course will be weekly; (NZ TIME) 12:30 pm (midday) Monday 3rd April - Monday 21 August 2023. Please go here for time conversion. It's not a quick fix. It's not a ride on a unicorn through a field of daisies. It's a deep dive into the realms that our culture tells us to avoid - the parts of our lives that are not perfect or shiny or easy to admit to. The shadow holds our unwanted parts - our failings and our shames as well as our magnificence. This work is not a space for pushing through or toughing it out - it is a space for gentle tending, self compassion and commitment. When you do this work you will feel fundamental change. Since I created the process it has revealed a way for me to have compassion for my woundedness and mostly (I am human and fallible) to act from my own values and not from my injury. I have more compassion with people around me and less willingness to put myself in harms way. If you are interested in developing a life-long practice that is generous and gentle, that will lead you into and out of shadow with kindness and compassion then this work is for you. For $1050 (NZ- conversion here) you get access to w20eekly zoom sessions, private facebook community, workbook of over 100 pages, access to over 20 videos, journal prompts, visualisations and more. I loved every minute of working with Jane Cunningham’s Facing the Minotaur course. The course is very well presented, the material is in manageable chunks, and the scholarship sound. At the foundation of all this is Jane herself, her wisdom, her intuition, her great commitment to exquisite self-care. Not only does she speak about it, she embodies it and also models it in every meeting.
We can talk about self-care and tenderness till we’re blue in the face, but having someone there who embraces who we are, however we show up, with great tenderness and clarity is a gift rarely experienced in this world. I learned so much about how to treat myself from the way Jane treated those of us in the course. I also learned how to use this great old story’s archetypes in my daily life, in my thinking, my writing, and a blossoming art journaling practice.
If you’re drawn to doing shadow work, Jane’s is a wonderful method. It’s personal and kind and gentle without giving up the fierceness and tenacity something of such value requires. I would say all of the above about Jane herself as well. I wholeheartedly recommend this course.

why do shadow work?"The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are."
C.G.Jung. A call to do shadow work is a call to wholeness. When we are only willing to look at the parts of ourselves that are shiny and "Nice" we can only be a fraction of ourselves. When we disavow the parts that are displeasing they turn up in other forms - the world around us, other people, projection, transference etc. This course is about learning to understand our inner life so that we can come to wholeness, develop equanimity and compassion and come home to ourselves. When we do shadow work we meet the whole of ourselves, we witness the truth of our being and we are able to navigate life more honestly and skillfully. |
who will this work for? That's a trick question because everyone has shadow so everyone can benefit from shadow work.
Whether you face it or not, shadow is there and an active participant in your daily life. This course is for people who are in good psychological health, who want to find ways to meet themselves kindly and who are willing to do the work. This course is for people who are willing to work online, to trust themselves and develop a practice to support them on an ongoing basis. This will not work if you want a quick fix or want to jump to the end. This will work for you if you are willing to be challenged to stay the course in the face of discomfort and be with yourself in new ways. To do this work you will need at least 2 hours per week and a willingness to open space for this as an ongoing practise. You will also need to be open to engaging with the synergy of a group of people doing their inner work - it is exponentially more powerful than doing this work alone. You will also be required to sign a commitment to the group boundaries and self care statement before entering the course. |
who are you to lead this?I am a woman who is doing her work.
I am standing on the shoulders of Dr Estés, Pixie Lighthorse, Randi Buckley, Chris Zydel, Connie Solera, Fabeku Fantumise and Andrea Schroeder, all of whom I have been blessed to train with. I come to this work as a training therapist with a Jungian world view, a strong creative practise and a deep sense of awe at the miraculous and supportive nature of the Unconscious. I am delivering this as an online offer after walking with this work in my own life for 8 years and for the last 7 years working online, one on one and in-person.sharing this process. I have a deep sense of trust in the process, having developed it to tend to my own shadow. I have immense gratitude for the generative nature of this work. In offering this to you, I consider myself a kaitiaki or guardian of something genuinely precious- both the process and your wellbeing. To read more about me please click here |
