Eileen. 2020

Welcome to the gathering that is Soulmap Journaling October 2020.

This is an opportunity to build your relationship with the unconscious alongside a group of generous humans.

To join us you don't need to be an artist just willing to engage with and record your experience with the unconscious mind and a willingness to play and go deep.

$100 NZ buys you 8 hours of soulmap journaling, the chance to go deep and play with other wise humans and build a deeper relationship with your unconscious.

a testimonial

I discovered Soulmap Journaling with Jane Cunningham at a point when I was feeling adrift in the isolation of lockdown; it quickly became an anchor for me and a valuable practice in my life.

The discoveries I make as I create my pages often surprise me and definitely enrich my experience. And the group Zoom meetings are a wonderful opportunity to be witnessed and share the insights that arise as we explore the weekly prompts.

Jane’s facilitation is insightful, encouraging and fun—I’m already looking forward to the next round of classes!

What is soulmap journaling?

Soulmap Journalling engages with the creative process to explore our inner landscape.

I believe creativity is a gift that all humans have access to that can help shape and mend our lives.  When we use the page as a window for our unconscious and trust process over product, we create a relationship with ourselves, our inner lives and The Mystery which is generative and generous.

My lineage in this work is Connie Solera and Chris Zydel.  From these two i learned to trust the power combination of creativity and kindness and that is what i deliver in the process i have created, called Soulmap Journaling.

With Soulmap Journaling we set ourselves free from the pressure of having to make something.  We learn to find beauty in the process and come to honour the "ugly" parts of the process and our pages as generous and wise.

With Soulmap Journaling we learn to turn up the volume on our wisdom and turn down the volume on the patriarchy and our inner critic.

Each time we gather we work with a theme, selected from a deck of oracle cards to help focus our intention and energy - the synergy of the group is the ground for connection with the magic of the Unconscious.  Chris Zydel calls this 'the Predictable Miracle".  Each time we gather i will go over a technique, often linked to the theme that will help us find a way into our page.

We use simple tools - a great page can be made with just a ballpoint pen and simple techniques  - you don't need to be an artist to do this work, in fact it helps to not be full of the rules about how things should look - it allows you to be responsive to what is alive in you.

How does it work?

Each week we gather on Zoom for two hours to engage in the soulmap process.

We gather to engage with a theme from a deck of divination cards - we are currently working with Alana Fairchild's Sacred Rebels Oracle.
This theme is chosen before we gather to ensure we have had a chance for it to percolate through our experience.

We have a forty minute round of revealing to each other what the theme brings up for us - the good, the bad and the ugly - all is welcome in this process.

Then we take the energy we have gathered to the page and work in whatever way we feel called, to express the theme on the page.  The only rules for this are my big three
  • trust what arises
  • turn up bravely
  • be kind to yourself.

After forty minutes we gather to discuss our experience on the page, what we learned, what worked and what didn't and often where we want to take our learnings from here.

We also have a private facebook group where we share our images and learning.

Working on the page is the place of transformation.

The page is where we learn about what's really there, we witness ourselves as we truly are and we begin to make ourselves open to possibility, wonder and awe in ways that strengthen and aright us.

What we make on the page is not as important as how we feel, how we deepen our relationship with the unconscious and how we tend to ourselves along the way.

*PLEASE NOTE* this is New Zealand time - please go here for time conversion

( it's 4-6 pm pacific time 6th October for example)

  • Reliable wifi

  • A surface to work on - an art journal is great but upcycled books or pieces of lose cardboard are fine too.

  • Art supplies - you can do this work with just a pencil or a ballpoint. I use paint because colour is an important part of capturing expression for me but it's not necessary

  • A willingness to share and engage with the process - this work will only work if you step up and engage.

  • A capacity to commit to the group. Our gatherings are designed to allow us to go deep.We hold each other's hearts and experience as we work together and it matters that we do this with care and respect.
