The Iconic self is a creative workshop for women looking to connect with their divinity and honour themselves as holy.
Working with the lineage of Byzantine art, we will take ordinary photocopied pictures of ourselves and turn them into icon art.
This workshop honours the power of creativity, redemption and self compassion and is a deep dive into the creative process.
If you are longing for a chance to tend lovingly to yourself, be challenged and build self compassion then this workshop is a good fit for you.
what can i expect
This workshop is a generous and tender offering for people who are willing to go deep and stay with themselves.
We will work in circle and individually to follow a step wise process which takes us into connection with our soul and informs our artwork.
YOU DO NOT NEED ART EXPERIENCE TO ENGAGE IN THIS WORKSHOP.
You will need to adhere to the group boundaries which are written to promote kindness and privacy.
All you need to bring is your openness, a willingness to trying something new and to stay with yourself as you experiment, learn and tend. You will need an a4 black and white full face photograph of yourself.
ALL OTHER SUPPLIES WILL BE PROVIDED.
(although you are welcome to bring your favourite art supplies)
You will leave the workshop with an artwork unique to you similar to the ones in the image above.
what can i expect from you jane?
I will bring my skill as a listener, group facilitator, a student of jungian thinking and my deep belief in the power of creativity to this generous and rich circle.
I love tending to the depths of soul and enjoy a good laugh and a fair bit of irreverence.
I am deeply committed to what Chris Zydel refers to as "the predictable miracle" that happens when willing humans engage in the creative act.
When we circle with the intention to join with soul, to tend to the sacred in life, we engage in wonder and awe.
It's my deep privilege to do this work.
